Sleep Help

My daughter is 18 months and still sometimes wakes during the night for a bottle. I have tried going in and giving her her dummy back but she just cries even more until i give her a bottle. Sometimes she will cry herself back to sleep after 30 mins of crying, do you have any suggestions on how i can get her from wanting a bottle during the night???

Hi Bec,

Your daughter associates going back to sleep with her bottle and the only way to change things is by breaking the habit. This will mean a few difficult nights ahead of you (they say it takes 3 days to create a habit and 3 days to break one.) You might have to do a few of our settling techniques for 6 to 12 month old, to give her a clear message that it’s time to sleep. If you are finding it too difficult, try giving water in the bottle for a couple of nights first and then stopping altogether.
