8mth non sleeper Lock Rss

My 8mth old girl still wakes every 2-3 hours at night for a feed and dosent sleep during the day for more then 40mins in broken times. She has lately started to refuse to sleep in her cot but will sleep on the floor what can i do to brake this habbit and get more sleep.

Kim,NSW, baby girl and one on the way

Hi,
At 8 months of age babies go through separation anxiety, and if you start habits of sleeping with them at this stage it can be hard to break later.
I would say your daughter is waking out of habit and the need for your comfort (feeding) to resettle herself.

If you want to change this you could try doing a rollover feed at 10pm and use settling techniques when she wakes during the night knowing confidently that she is not hungry.

You can get details for our settling program on Your Baby’s Sleep page or from <a href="It's time to sleep</a"http://www.itstimetosleep.com/">It's Time To Sleep DVD&BOOK
