this is for Jade H, don't you realise there is enough pressure for women to breast feed and are made to feel bad if they can't or want to stop without our peers lecturing us as well! If she wants to try and introduce the bottle, that is entirely up to her and shouldn't be made to feel bad about it under any circumstance! I had a horrible time breast feeding and it ended in me crying each time and my little girl crying each time so we slowly weaned and are now fully on the bottle and have bonded much more as mother and daughter than we ever did breast feeding. It is a reality that some women have to go back to work or can't be on call every two hours for their child.
My suggestions is to get someone else to feed the baby the bottle as they can smell the mother and the breast milk, and just slowly wean, or even express and offer breast milk in the bottle first.
I'm sorry, but it just makes me mad to have people critisising in a place like this where other mothers turn to for advice.
