Lotions these days come in all sorts of scents, and many are made just for children. Little girls especially will love having a special scent that can only be used after sitting on the potty and washing her hands.

Take your child to a bath and body shop. Not only will they feel grownup shopping in a place like that, but they will be so excited at all the scents that they get to choose form. Take your time! Smell the scents together. Use the samples and rub different scents on her arms, wrist, hands. Play games and have her guess the scent before revealing the name. Can she tell a vanilla-based scent from a flower one? How about a fruit smell from an herb smell? After the testing and smelling is done, let her select her favorite to purchase and bring home.

Keep the bottle of lotion in the bathroom. Every time she goes to the potty and then washes her hands, let her use the lotion. Make sure to tell the family to really fuss over how good she smells. Make it something that she really looks forward to so she looks forward to going to her potty or the toilet.

And why not pick a special name for the scent to remind her it’s a toilet training reward?
