Fun Tub Fishing
Age: baby, toddler
Skill for Bub: Hand/eye coordination, Just for fun, Mind Builder
Learning colours, counting, and coordination are catches of the day in this bath-time game!
Life is full of terrific teachable moments for your child — even during bathtime. This whale of a game reels in the fun of fishing while helping to boost your child’s hand-eye coordination and colour recognition.
- Use craft foam to cut out a variety of small fish and other sea creatures.
- As you add them to your child’s bath, point out the colours of each one.
- Using a small aquarium net or toy net, help your child catch the fish. Be sure to offer praise by saying something like, “Hooray! We caught the blue fish!”
- Count each fish that you catch. Help your child stick them to the side of the bathtub so that she can see how many she has caught.
Once all the fish have been netted, ask and instruct your child, “Can you give me the blue fish?” “Put the yellow fish back in the water.” Praise away!
