Wacky Choppy Water Travels

Duration: any

Age: toddler, child

Skill for Bub: Muscle Builder, Just for fun, Mind Builder

Lay a blanket on the floor and have your child sit down on this “tug boat.” Your younger child and his sibling(s) can sit in the same blanket, or — if you can enlist your partner’s help — you can form a line of traveling tug boats.

  • Making sure each child has a firm grip on the sides of the blanket, and slowly pull them from room to room.
  • Talk about your itinerary! As you pass each room, discuss what spot you’re passing: Maybe it’s the zoo, the supermarket, the beach, or Grandma’s house. Also, what might you be seeing near the water along the way? Seagulls? Star fish? Encourage you children to use their imaginations and point out their “findings.”
  • Make the “waves” choppy by occasionally tugging the blanket and spinning it as your child sits.
