summary:

Four ways to carry your child to her room for bedtime.

For some parents, getting their children into bed can be as challenging as getting them to eat a proper meal. With the range of stalling techniques that these clever little kids come up with (“Just five more minutes!”), the process can eat away minutes of your evening me-time.

Here are some fun ways to get your child in bed without a fight — offer your child a choice of rides to bed.

Piggy-back: Finish this classic lift by carefully dropping your child backwards on her bed.

Horsie ride: Have your child climb on your back while you are positioned on your hands and knees. Make sure that your child has a firm grip on your shoulders to avoid injury. (While it may be hard on all fours to crawl down the hall to your child’s room, the earlier bedtime will be worth it!)

Rock-a-by-baby ride: Cradle your baby in your arms and rock her back and forth as you walk to her room.

Four-hand lift ride: Grab your left forearm with your right hand. Hold onto your partner’s forearm with your left. Have your partner do the same to create a square with your arms. Lower your arms so that your child can sit down in the square seat. Rise up and walk together to your child’s bedroom.
