Age: toddler, child
Skill for Bub: very basic math, mind builder
Kids love to sort and identify things, especially money. This quiz gets your child familiar with the Australian currency and its coins and notes.
This is a nice and easy quiz to setup. All you need are a few coins and notes from your wallet or purse. Sit down with your child at a large table with the notes and coins laid out on the table. Then get them to identify the different coins and notes. “Is that a one dollar or a 50c”, “is that yellow note a $50 or a $20”.
If your little one is slightly more advanced in terms of maths you can even get him/her to start adding some of the coins together. “If I put the 10c and the 5c pieces together, what do we get?”
This is a great way to get your child familiar with money and get them ready for receiving an allowance or money for chores. Once kids get to understand the value of the different coins then you can teach what the money is worth and how they can save to buy toys or treats.
