summary:
A simple, visually-stimulating activity that offers your child an introduction to the great outdoors.

From your baby’s perspective, the world is a mighty fascinating place. Consider, for example, how amazing and complicated the branch of a tree must look! Encourage your little explorer’s curiosity with these easy ways to have fun with nature.
Gather a blanket, dress baby for the outdoors, and head outside. (This is a great activity to do on family picnics or outings with your partner and other children.) Then:
- Lay your child on her back under a tree and watch her observe the different shapes and patterns of the leaves as she listens to them rustle in the breeze.
- Use a small branch of leaves or a few blades of grass to gently tickle your child.
- Dangle brightly coloured flowers in front of her. (Be careful of pollen.)
- Crinkle leaves next to her ears to stimulate her hearing.
