Funny Finger Puppets
Age: baby, parent
Skill for Bub: Just for fun, Mind Builder
Tickle your baby’s funny bone with a pint-size puppet show!
Let your fingers do the walking and talking as you perform a baby-pleasing play using finger puppets — the perfect activity for helping your child begin to distinguish between shapes and colours. In order to hold your child’s attention, it’s important to remain as animated and energetic as possible during your performance.
You can purchase finger puppets in most toy stores, or make your own out of dishwashing gloves:
- Cut the fingers off to make a set of puppets.
- Use non-toxic markers to draw different characters or animals on each and attach a set of googly-eyes with non-toxic glue.
- Consider using the puppets to dance along as you sing Where Is Thumbkin?
Note: Do not let your baby handle the puppets as they are not child-proof.
