A Sandbox of One's Own

Duration: any

Age: toddler

Skill for Bub: Just for fun

summary:

Say goodbye to cleaning sticky sand off of your child!

CAUTION: Adult supervision is always recommended when creating these crafts. Please note that there may be small parts for some of the crafts that could be a choking hazard for children under three years of age and/or tools needing close adult supervision. Created crafts may not be intended for use as toys and these should only be used with adult supervision by children under three years of age.

Whether at the beach or at the playground, children just love to play in the sand. Keep the fun going — even when it’s raining outside — with a mess-free indoor sandbox that’s also terrific tactile stimulation for toddlers.

Fill a 100-litre plastic storage bin halfway with a variety of grains such as rice, oatmeal, flaxseeds, or sesame seeds. Give your child some plastic cups, spoons and other toys and let the fun begin! Just as sand should be rotated in regular sandboxes for hygienic reasons, the grains in your sand station should also be replaced every so often to ensure the health and safety of your child.
