If you think finger painting is fun, wait till you try painting with your toes! This activity also can be done at a child’s birthday party.

There are lots of paintings done with fingers and hands, but few are done with feet. You can change that with a large roll of paper from a party supply store and some water-soluble paints.

  • Roll the paper onto the basement floor, sidewalk or driveway.
  • Squeeze out a few puddles of different coloured paints onto foil-covered flat oven trays.
  • Encourage your child to step into the paint and walk over the paper. How can you encourage your child to do such a thing? Why, do it yourself, of course! That’s right, kick off your shoes and step into the paint.
  • Hold hands and create a toe painting together.
  • Feel free to mix paint colors – it’s bound to happen. See if you can create a face or a tree or a car.
  • If you’re doing this at a party, allow each child to have a section of the paper to design on his own. Make sure to have a bucket and towels nearby for cleanup afterward.

Enjoy the sensations and the company. When you’re done, hang your masterpiece as a mural on the wall, or use it as a table covering at the child’s birthday party!
