Have a whale of a good time making this edible ocean scene!

Need a rainy-day activity to cure cabin fever? Making this aquarium is great for developing your child’s fine motor skills. Plus, it’s as much fun to make as it is to eat!

Sliced bagel (or mini-bagel)
Cream cheese
Blue food colouring
Fish-shaped crackers
Lolly snakes

Filling the Aquarium

  • In a bowl, place cream cheese and a few drops of blue food coloring. Have your child help stir and scrape the bowl. Help your child spread the blue cream cheese on bagel halves.
  • Place a few pretzels in a plastic sandwich bag and allow him to crush them into fine pieces. Let him sprinkle this “sand” on top of the cream cheese.
  • Using the fish-shaped crackers and gummy worms, encourage your child to decorate the bagel oceans.
  • Get snacking on these swimmy sandwiches!
