summary:

Drizzle. Drop. Splatter. Splotch. These creative holiday cards are pretty to look at and fun to paint!

Instead of store-bought cards, send one-of-kind seasons’ greetings that you and your child can make at home together.

  • Begin by covering your work area in newspaper or craft paper.
  • Fold a piece of white or light-colored construction paper into the shape of a card.
  • Fold another piece of paper in half, trace one half of a Christmas tree, and cut out the shape. (Or, make cards non-denominational by using a snowflake or snowman shape instead of a tree.)
  • Lay the tree shape on the front of the card.
  • Using a small paint brush or toothbrush, demonstrate how to splatter the paint, mainly around the tree shape: Coat the brush in one colour and gently whip the paint onto the paper. Have each brush only contain one colour.
  • Remove the tree shape once the paint is dry and write a special holiday note.
