7 month old waking every 3-4 hours during night!
My almost 7 month old baby goes to bed at night around 7/8pm. She will wake almost 3 hours to the minute from going to sleep and will demand a breastfeed to resettle again which she does instantly. 3-4 hours later this process repeats itself until morning wakeup around 7/8 am. Baby has begun solids 3 times a day and is breastfed. Should I expect that she should be sleeping for longer periods at this age because I am getting exhausted waking so often! I have tried to let her cry and grizzle upon waking but very rarely will she self settle. When will we get more sleep??!!
At 7 months she's just at the age range when it's fair to expect her to sleep for longer periods overnight without needing to breastfeed. Are you offering her both breasts with feeds during the day? Is she well and healthy and on track with her growth and development so it's fair to expect her to sleep for longer overnight?
I'd suggest you take her to your CHN and have her weight and growth checked and plotted on the percentile charts just to make sure she's going well.
And check the responsive settling information on the Huggies site in particular comfort settling strategies.
And the other tip is that if she's always breastfed to sleep and asleep in your arms before you place her into her cot then she's likely to look for the same help when she wakes overnight. So separating the breastfeeds from her sleep/settling would also be useful.
