I have a 16 month old son who wakes up once a night like clockwork and is after a bottle of milk. As soon as he finishes his bottle he is back to sleep. If I don`t give him his bottle he will cry a bit then fall asleep for about 10minutes and then cry again and this will happen until I give him his bottle. He goes to sleep at 10pm and wakes up at about 2-3am for his bottle. What can I do to get him to sleep throughout the night without waking up for a bottle?
At this age you might expect him to be in bed by 7 – 730pm. To change what is happening you would need to stop offering this overnight bottle, he is waking out of habit for it now. You also need to be sure he settles awake initially at night so he is not falling asleep with a bottle or he will wake and look for this comfort to return to sleep. Try our It`s Time To Sleep settling techniques for 6 to 12 months if he is still in a cot.
