I designed and created the ‘Magical Owl Nursery’ from scratch, complete with enchanted tree mural covering almost one full wall in the baby’s bedroom so that picture frames and other hanging items can be added and removed over time to display photos, framed memorabilia like hospital bracelets, tiny hand prints or a lock of hair from the first hair cut with the idea of capturing those special moments for others to share -not just in a scrapbook tucked away in a cupboard for rare occasions.
The magical white tree is hand painted onto a rich Moroccan rustic red (existing wall colour choice which we decided to try and work with rather than re-paint as we liked it so much). Textured wallpaper leaves of assorted colours adorn the majestic branches with wee owls hidden amongst the branches to carry the theme right through the room, from the wall to the bedding & quilt, wall hangings, cushions and stuffed animals -all of which I hand made with lots of love especially for the room and baby.
The aim was to try and achieve a blend of strong and softer colours, with an overall feminine and inviting feel without being too over-the-top with girly accents –we still wanted the men to feel at home in this space. I believe the outcome was successful, and baby Elle seems to enjoy using her special room very much!
