The chemist told me it is a big `no-no` to use throat gargle when pregnant
I have a throat infection that is getting better, but my doctor suggested getting a throat gargle to soothe. When I went to the chemist they told me it is a big `no-no` to use betadine throat gargle when pregnant - I didn`t ask why but now I am curious and concerend as I have used Betadine ointment on a recurring cyst whilst I have been pregnant.

Hi,
Many medications are not recommended in pregnancy. This is usually because they have not studied the effects on pregnant women of these medications. Betadine is fine when used externally on a cut but it is stronger when used internally so this is why it is not recommended.
Best wishes,
Alex
