I`ve been waking up with very painfull cramps in my calfs
hi, i`m 24 weeks with my 1st, lately i`ve been waking up with very painfull cramps in my calfs that last for a minute or two, they are so painfull enough to cry, is this normal, i told my midwife but she wasn`t much fazed but i wondered if you could tell me if its completely normal and if it is anything to help. also she hasn`t been moving around as much in the last few days, should i be worried?
thanks

Answer:
Hi,
At 24 weeks it is not uncommon for the baby’s movements to be not as prominent at times as the baby can move into a posterior position where it can’t be as easily felt. Cramps can be improved by drinking plenty of water, regular exercise and a balanced diet. When you do get a cramp it can help to stretch the affected muscle.
Best wishes,
Alex
