Doctor said that the babys head is slightly smaller than it should be
hi
ive just had the results, from my second anatomy ultrasound, and the doctor said that the babys head is slightly smaller than it should be. also the ultrasound picked up something in the babys abdomen but they think it could be its bowels?!i dont feel as though the doctor elaborated on what that meant and what could be wrong if anything. she just said i would have to have anoather ultrasound in the third trimester
im really scared and wondered if you had any ideas.
thanks

Answer:
Hi Christine,
Ultrasounds are really only basic diagnostic tools and are unable to be accurate with most of what it finds. It is good with seeing the baby as a whole and checking its growth. Sometimes the scan does highlight something unusual but when the scan is repeated a few weeks later the ‘problem’ has disappeared.
Best wishes,
Alex
