I have been told 10mths, but I am not sure. DD has the odd bottle, so I use formula for her cereal.

Im starting my DS on cows milk at 6 months. Formula companies pay HUGE amounts for 'experts' to say only to feed BM or formula till 12 months and only give cows milk after 12 months. I was given only cows milk from 6 months as was my brother and our health is perfect and we are both over 6 feet tall and have good bodies with no gastrointestinal tract problems. DS already has cows milk in in weetbix (he is 5 months) and in rice cereal. If your child is going to have a reaction, it will have it very fast so you will know if there are any problems.

My DS went onto cows milk at 10 mths, he was on formula and kept getting consipated so he's doctor said to just put him on cows milk, he said even though u read every where not to til 12mths he said its bull as its jus the formula companies saying that.
Bringing up a family should be an adventure, not an anxious discipline in which everybody is constantly graded for performance.

My DD has been having cows milk in her cereal since 3 months of age. Allows her to get used to it and honestly it's only a dribble. But I agree with an earlier post that it never hurt earlier generations and certainly won't hurt generations to come. The rule of thumb used to be 12 months of age before introducing dairy products however they make yoghurt for babies of 6 months and is not different to yoghurt you eat. So don't see why milk is any different.

Yes you're correct they say you can introduce a small amount of cows milk in cooking from 9 months.

Well done for bf still :)

Here is a guide that tells you what foods for each age, hope that you find it useful

wow, it seems a bit controversial. I dont know if i WANT to start her on cows milk, i absolutely love breastfeeding and expressing, but not sure if that wil do harm in the long run not introducing a wider variety or food and drink etc. sounds like i might be safe for a bit longer. If you look on the baby cutard tins (cant rememebr the name - i try to make all my daughters food) you will see one of their main ingredients is actuially full cream milk so ive never understood how that can be hence the reason i try not to use these much along with the sugar content, its all so confusing one person says one thing and another the opposite!

The main thing is that they don't recomend babies have bottles of cows milk. While it's a useful drink it's not a complete food. You can add it to other foods from around six months. I let dd2 try it straight at about 7 or 8 months. The reason being she kept trying to steal her sister sippy cup. I wanted to see if I had to worry- no reaction. She has being given the occasional small cup from 9 months, but has only being have it daily in the last month. She is still bfing, eats quite good for her age but she also like her big sister thinks the milk from the fridge is pretty good.

I don't like the idea of cows milk in bottles as they can fill up milk to easierly. In saying that I haven't had to worry about weaning from a bottle so I might be talking out my bum
