Low Progesterone Levels Rss

Just thought I would share my fertility problem which does not seem to have been talked about much in this forum. This comment might be helpful to someone.

I am 32 and have a 3 year old and am now 28 weeks pregnant with number 2. It took about 6 months to conceive our first child and nearly 2 years to conceive the next!

I had lots of cycle trackings which indicated I was ovulating each cycle but at quite different times, my cycles were also all over the place. One could be 18 days long, the next 35 days. In the end the obgyn put me one progesterone replacement pills As I understand it, because my progesterone levels were so low, even if my eggs were fertilised, I could not carry them. I have an extremely 'short luteal' phase.

During the first cyle of taking the pills, we conceived! I had to take them for the first 12 weeks of pregnancy but have not looked back since. Apparently my problem could be related to early on-set menopause as progesterone is often the first hormone to decrease.

Anyway, if your progesterone levels have not been considered in detail, I would suggst having them looked into. Hopefully my story will have a happy ending and yours will too.

Hooray
17 years of m/c for me. I had goo in jan08 but for # 2 another m/c at 10 weeks. I googled infertility and every thing I COULD FIND and decided to ask if we could track my Progesterone with BhcG next time I was pregnant . Sure enough at 7 weeks after about 5 blod tests you coul see it dropping fast. So much so that the first visit to the ob he said he thought it was a non viable preg again but will do an ultra sound just in case. He found a heart beat and put me straight on Progesterone pessaries as they use in IVF.I am now 31weeks Preg.

I am fairly sure this has been my problem for a long time. I have had endometriosis and a fibroid removed. Both indications of dominant oestrogen.

It is weird the alternative health people talk about it but my gp never heard of it. Ob is still sceptic that is what made the difference. Even though it is used in IVF all the time.

Good luck and thanks for bringing up the topic
