how early did you start to wash newborn clothes Rss

hi am 32 weeks, and i have been washing bubs clothes (new and second hand). i have already folded them up and put them into the drawers. is this too soon, as i have about 8 weeks to go (2 months!
Its okay to do it then, but be warned this may not the last time you do it.... when the nesting instinct kicks in you may decide that it isn't good enough and do it again wink
I learnt to do it near the end.... that way I wasn't compelled to do it all over again.
I did it at about 36 weeks I think? I would have left it later, but DD was due mid-September (the rainy season here in Auckland) so had to take advantage of any dry days in August that we had to get them all done!

I don't think 32 weeks is too early though, maybe better to do it now while you still have a little more energy!
I washed things as I bought them! So some were washed very very early., like 15 weeks. I was like scary organsied though! That side of me has completely disappeared lol.
Get it done whenever you can so you can really relax in the last few weeks. My nesting instinct stopped completely from about 37 weeks, I was just too tired and uncomfortable to care so I was glad I got everything done super early.
is there a reason why you need to wash the clothes before your baby is born?

Hi i did the netural colurs around 10 weeks and as soon as i knew what i was having at 22 weeks i did the blue stuff. I am now 26 weeks tomorrow and have washed all babys clothes up to size 3-6mths so next lot of washing will be his 6mth clothes, they are all folded and away in draws. I have also washed his towels and cloth nappies which i are not using as nappies but using for spills and putting in basinette. I have brought nearly everything we need for him including 400 newborn nappies, 3 lots of bum cream, massage oil, 12 packets of wipes.

I just been buying them as we go so when he is here the first month atleast we wont have to buy nappies or wipes which will help cost wise.

I have also washed his carseat covers which were new, I do still have to do the frily things that go on the basinett, have done the matress cover and need to wipe basinette frame down as the frame is used for all babies in our family and i just brought a new mattress. Still have to wash bouncinette cover.

So I dont think 32 week is to early. If you feel like doing it then enjoy
I washed everything at 36 weeks when I finished work smile all his clothes, towels, blankets, wraps and bassinette sheets etc. Kinda glad I did cause now I dont think i could be bothered lol

Hi
I washed everything at 32 weeks and was glad as I was then told to have bed rest for the rest of my pregnancy - bub arived at 37 weeks - so I was glad I was organised so whe disaster struck i did not panick about getting things finished in time..... do what feels right...you never know if bub wants to arrive early! have fun!
I washed it at about 38 weeks with #1 (who was then over two weeks overdue) and then as needed with #2. I had WAY too many clothes for DD#1 and also kind of regret the newborn stuff that I washed then couldn't return when she arrived bigger than newborn size!
As for why wash them - it is to get the chemicals out of the cloth that are in there when clothes are new (they are to set dye and stiffen fabric to make it easier to sew) there can be dangerous things in there (like formaldehyde etc) and really we should wash all new clothes, not just for babies (I should really practice what I preach - but in all honesty I usually just wear it myself and feel vaguely guilty!)
I must be the only fruit loop who washed her babies clothes more than once blink laugh laugh

I didn't wash DS clothes before he was born. . I never saw the need to. I guess everyone is different but unless it's second hand hand me downs I wouldn't bother.

Brand new clothes can still be quite starchy and have left over dye/residue on them which can be harsh to sensitive skin. That's generally why you wash new clothes before wear for little bubs. I stopped doing it for DS's stuff when he was like 18mths or so I think.

OP, I have had all my stuff washed for the last few weeks I don't think it's too early. I prefer getting things done so I don't have to worry about my list of things to do anymore smile
I started washing/cutting tags etc at around 30 weeks I think... Then did them all again when I hit my due date! I also repacked my hospital bag about 10 times!
With DD1 I washed them as I got them and everything was done by 36 wks which is when we set up her bedroom

DD2 I knew I was having another girl so I washed the box of newborn clothes when I was 31 wks.
