whats the most useful kids recipe book Rss

Hi!

So im wanting to cook some food thats more appropriate for dd to eat than our "adult" food. Like I cook a fair amount of tacos, stir frys and marinated meats. I dont see these as being foods that dds lil body would digest easily or well.

So I was wondering if anyone knows of a truly useful toddler cook book. One where with a simple adjustment they can be made into "adult" food. Or even just a recipe that works well for your family in general.

Dd doesn't like cheese, and hasn't had peanut yet so preferably without those.

Thanks!
Hi,

I don't know of a cookbook as I never used one. I always tried to cook meals that DD cook eat as well or be adjusted simply for her.

Some meals that I found good was a sheppherd's pie with veg.

Spag Bol was great as I would feed her the meat and sauce and then put some cheese, sultana's and apple with the pasta and let her feed herself.

With things like chicken curry, I used to fry all the chicken and take some out and then keep cooking the curry. I would give DD the chicken and rice and just steam some veggie for her as well.

I would just be trying to cook your food and save adding really spicy or heavy things until you take a bit out for your DD.

Goodluck, I know at times it can be hard to think of what you'll cook so everyone is happy and you only need to cook once! Just remember kids are not fussy with what they eat eg you can give them combinations of food that you would not usually eat together but they don't know the difference and are happy!
I found this website a few days ago - fresh for kids It's got some great recipes.
The link to the family recipes website doesn't always work though.

Did u find the meat ended up tough though? Alot of the time I partly cook it then it finishes cooking while the sauce thickens.

Thanks for those links. Deffinately helpful. Xx
I don't use a kids cookbook but my DS is really fussy so this are some of the foods he has for dinner:
Shepherds pie - I don't bother with pastry I just cook mince, veggies and pasta sauce together and mashed potato. He devours it!! He loves mince and rice so I do that pretty often too. I find the lean or extra lean mince the best and not too chewy.

Chicken breast cooked with sauce, rice and veggies or chicken tacos are always a hit too.

He loves sausages too so I do mild curried sausages or just a BBQ with salad.

When DS started eating the same dinners as us he had a tiny bit of diarrhea for a couple of days but was fine after that and adapted really well.
I really like Annabell Karmel's books. She makes kids food like home made sausages, cannelloni (sp?), meat patties, etc that can be for the whole family and she makes it fun! (my profile pic is from a recipe I made from her book).
