Of having crèche in shopping centres in Perth ? I am thinking of opening one myself but at the moment, wanting to do some research. It would be great if you could share your thoughts of if you would send your kids to creche so you can do some shopping, have coffee with friends, watch movie with your friends of partner or just wanting your own time enjoying shopping. My plan is to have a ratio of 1:5 and all staffs have to be qualified carers with child experience, first aid cert and working with children card. Parents can leave their children no longer than 5 hours and a minimum of 2 hours stay. No food will be provided so parents have to provide in a lunch box. An electronic pager will be given to all parents to contact them easier. In the crèche there will be art and Cary activity, books with storytelling sessions, movies for kids ( age appropriate), educational games and lots more. Let me know what you think? Do you think there will be parents using this service?
Will you send your kids aged 2 to 12 years old to a crèche in a shopping centre?
Hi to all, this is my first post. I just wanting to know what parents think

My initial thought is that that seems a very big age range for a creche! I don't think that children as old as 12 need to be in a creche, and if they were, they certainly wouldn't need the carer to child ratio that you mention. If this ratio is unnecessarily high then your operating costs are going to be too high as you're paying too many employee's wages.
But, yes, I certainly would use such a service for younger children - definitely under 5, but probably up to about 7 or 8 I think. In fact, I am disappointed that in my city none of the malls near me have a creche, but some that are further away do.

I think it's a good idea that while shopping for groceries there is someone who can watch over with your toddlers. You won't be able to hurry in the grocery store and worry about your kids running around and getting lost sight of them. You will have peace of mind and your kids get to enjoy playing with other kids as well.

I personally have never had to send my daughter to a crèche as we live in a small town, who don't have crèche's laugh and my parents sometimes look after her when we go to the movies, have alot of shopping to do etc. but i think it's a great idea! especially being in a big area; alot of people wouldn't just have a babysitter across the road. Especially people with a few children, I can only imagine how hard it would be to go grocery shopping with 4 children or watch a movie. Maybe true google a forum about it and see who you can get in contact with? Goodluck! smile x

curious to know how you go about opening one of these up...
Thank you all for the ideas and reply. Truly appreciated. Any suggestions will be appreciated. More ideas and thoughts is always helpful. Thanks ladies:)
Just remember us all here when you are rich!! In other words, yes, I think its a great idea!
Personally no I wouldn't. Only because I don't trust just anyone to look after my kids. Sometimes they can misbehave when we go shopping but it doesn't make me want to drop them off somewhere so I can get it done in peace. They had one years ago in my local shopping centre and it didn't last very long at all.

I'm not sure if my DD would like being left with people she doesn't know. But if I left her with one of her friends it would probably be fine. I think you'd find there were a lot of legal requirements though - are you already qualified? Also, I would think that rents in shopping centres would be very very high so you would have to do a lot of budgeting before deciding whether it was worth it or not.
2 hour minimum? I would hardly ever shop for more than an hour and a half.
Big age range- not sure how you'd go entertaining this big of a range.
Would you have toilets in the creche? At our local westfield shops there is a child minding service- minimum of half an hour, max of 2 hours no food or drink to be left with kids, and staff will not take kids to the toilet- parents must come back if child needs a loo break. Age range is 3-10.

Yes I am qualified. But I have only 9 years experience as a qualified. Yes u are right there's lots of legal things to do. Dealing with the child care licensing centres and then the shopping centres management and all. It's a long and hard process. That's y I am doing my research here to know if parents actually gonna use them. And i am so lucky to have so many responds from u and other ladies sharing your views. Tq so much.

Hi there, thank you for your views. I definitely have to look at the age group again. Toilets of cos we will have one. I can't believe that the staff won't bring the children to the toilet. My idea is that I would only take toilet train children. Tq once again for your views. It does makes me reconsider the age group.
You would also need to consider how to identify the people collecting the children. Particularly in cases where one parenet may drop them off and another may collect them. Or if there is a seperated parenting arrangement and they cannot have contact with one parent. Just because the child knows that the person there is mummy or daddy doesn't mean they can go with them. Just some thoughts.
Call me paranoid but I wouldn't leave my child in a shopping vcentre creche but then I have options and can go to the shops by myself on the weekend and leave him with Daddy if I really needed/wanted to.
Good luck with it hope you get some good responses. Great way to do someof your market research.

I wouldnt use a service like this because I wouldnt leave my kids with people I dont know (both the carers and other kids) and I wouldnt like the idea of kids as old as 12 being in the same care centre as little ones.
Yes i would ,i think it is a good idea .WE usse to do craft activities when we were 6 or 7 at the local shopping centeres .Would be really good in school hoildays
No I wouldn't, just because I don't trust people I don't know with DS. You would have to be super organised with strict processes and VERY security/safety conscious to try and manage all those kids coming and going at different times and to people you didn't know, and kids you didn't know. I would say it could be very risky.

this is a good point how will you know what kids belong to what parents?
anyway i wouldn't use this service

Thank you all for the reply. Sorry for the late reply as I have been busy at home being a mom and having lots of celebrations for the past few weeks. Well, I read from the previous responds from our lovely moms about the topic, most of them are afraid and worry about the safety of the children. Which children belongs to who. Well to solve this problem so far I have a method of tagging. Each parents will be given a beeper to remind them that we need their attendance at the crèche right away, on the beeper will be a number, and that same number will be attached to their Childs wrist or ankle. Before checking in the parents will be ask for any form of identification card with their picture on it. And details will be noted down, upon pick up only parents who have the beeper and produce the same identification card will be given their child back. Next, about moms who Is afraid of putting their younger kids to crèche because there's older kids age 12 years old. Yes I am aware many moms are worried about the age group and I am lucky to have them sharing their views and consent, therefore it does makes me consider about lowering the age group to about 7yrs old.
Its a good idea in theory, personally I wouldnt use it though as I too dont trust strangers with my DS and he wouldnt like to be left either.
A couple of thoughts though....
* 2 hours minimum may be to long, if a parent is just wanting to do a food shop that wont take 2 hours. So perhaps a 1 hour minimum.
* I would imagine that you would be dealing with a lot of separation issues from the younger ones. Assuming that for most it wouldnt be a regular routine like going to a familiar a day care centre on a particular day with the same kids etc. It would be more daunting for them to be left in a strange place with different carers and different kids each time.
* I've never used a creche or daycare centre so im not sure exactly how the routine goes, but how would you be set up with kids needing naps and not getting disturbed by older kids etc. Would you have enough room to have separate areas/an outdoor area?
* How much would you be charging?
You have probably already done it but check out other creches eg. at the gym and see what regulations they have. I believe the IKEA creche wont accept kids younger then 3 and they have to be toilet trained.
Good idea though for those that dont have other childcare options.

I'm sure that there are plenty of parents that would find the service useful provided there are security and safety processes in place, but personally I wouldn't leave [url="http://www.kidsbeddingdreams.com"][color="#0000...] with strangers.
