sleeping like a baby by Pinky Mckay anyone read it? Rss

hello grin grin Hope everyone is well.
My Baby is 4monhths old now still having some issues getting her to sleep.
We comfort her by patting and picking up and putting her down in her cot.. we are trying to encourage her to self settle ...she can do it if she is not overtired.....
I went to sleep school on tuesday they basically encourage the crying it out method , I dont feel comfortable with this , she crys anyway so guess its kind of going hand in hand..however I am there after a few minutes to try to settle her in her cot...anyway
I read advise as to why controlled crying is bad and why its good
DD has just turned four months, how long does it usually take for a baby to learn to self settle?
Is this book worth reading? she dosnt use the crying method.....
Iv read it and i dont think there was any point to reading it , it pretty much common sense stuff and just goes on about controlled crying being bad.I allready didnt agree with controlled crying before reading the book so no point.
I read it and found it quite good in that it re-affirmed that what I was doing (feeding DD to sleep) was good if that was what worked for us. I also read Save Our Sleep which I hated. I wouldn't say don't read it, but don't expect ideas to get your DD to self settle. I taught my DD to self settle really slowly after weaning her at 13 months, by using the "slowly move away" technique.
If you are looking for ideas for how to wean baby from sleep associations you aren't happy with, you might want to try Elizabeth Pantley's No Cry Sleep Solution instead. I borrowed mine from the library; she also has a FB page where you can post questions.

I haven't read Sleeping Like a Baby, though I have heard good things about it if you are that way inclined, not to do CC/CIO.
