Samantha's First Pregnancy Rss

Hi everyone smile

I am awaiting my little miracles birth in March smile

I've heard about swimming lessons that involve mum & bub in the water together starting from around 4 months.

I was wondering if anyone has tried these & what their experiences have been smile
Not long till you meet your lil bub smile
I did swimming lessons like this with my dd when she was 6ish months old smile
We played games like sang nursery rhymes like ring a ring a Rosie and did the motion to the songs.
A lot of it was to do with getting familiar with water and eventually as they got a bit older learning safety around water , this is what we did in our group but it may differ from other groups and instructors. I really loved it and so did dd she would be knackered afterwards lol.
I was going to start swimming lessons with my daughter at 4 months, a friend of mine who is a swim teacher told me to wait until she is 6 months so her lungs can handle being in the water.
I'm getting DD ready for swimming by putting water on her head during bath time; I just get the face washer and squeeze it over DD head (I make sure it doesn't go over her face). I do also sprinkle a little water over her face, so she gets use to it.
We are starting this week! We went to watch a baby class last week though. My DD is actually 2 years 4 months, and she has swum in a pool and in the sea on multiple occasions, but we have never been to classes before, and she will be going to a baby class with babies as young as 6 months.

Anyway, a lot of the lesson that we watched was, as PP said, just getting them used to the water and building their confidence and so on. They played games and sang songs. So it isn't really teaching them to swim, and since my DD is already reasonably confident in water it might all be a bit pointless, but we have a free day with nothing to do and thought it looked like fun!

All of the lessons near us take kids from 6 months (not younger) and I believe that they are supposed to be fully immunised to that age before starting - not sure if they check but I know that several people have told me that.
