30th b'day ideas? Rss

hey ladies!!
my 30th b'day is in 6mths!! yah!! i am excited, but feel soo very old...
i am tossing around some ideas at the moment, but i would love to hear from anyone who has suggestions? maybe you could tell me what you did for your 30th? i want to have fun, but i hate having parties, as i always end up being the one doing everything (as i am a control freak & it comes from my previous work in hospitality) & i also get disappointed when people don't come (like my 25th & engagement party)...
I don't think i'm going to be much help... I didn't do anything for my 30th as had my DD2 3 weeks before...( not much fun with a newborn ) My sister for her 40th though had a BBQ with all the family and close friends and put a slide show on of her life up until now... Other ideas i know of are costume parties, even hiring out a nice venue that's catered so you can relax and enjoy your bday... Good luck smile

I just picked a cheap and cheerful Thai restaurant and invited my good friends for dinner. That was before kids, but would probably do the same now but just pick a kid friendly place and an earlier dinner time.

My 30th is is March and Ive been trying to decide what to do.

I think Ive decided to have something at a local bar which has a private function area. I'm thinking about inviting just friends, mainly just my good girl friends and partners and a few other couples who we are close to.

I think I'll have it in the evening so I can have a night off from the kids. I'll get the bar to put on some nibbles and everyone can pay for their own drinks. I struggled with that a bit at first but we cant really afford to shout and its just going to be a casual get together.
What timing! I have planned a 30th birithday for this weekend (not for me) smile

I hired the deck area (fully weather-proof) at our local services club. The hire of the area was $180. I've paid for nibblies platter - $55 and for hire of a data projector so I can show a slide show of photos during the night. My out of pocket expenses were $295. I've also decided to get a signature frame for guests to sign on the night and a few decorations from our local $2 shop (just table scatters and a few flags).

I arranged weeks ago and sent out email invitations for guests to pay for their own dinner (which will be a bbq buffet- meat cooked on our deck by a staff member) in advance so I don't have to deal with money on the night. I've asked for them not to bring any presents.

The whole thing has been a piece of cake to organise and not a big budget affair. It will have a laid back bbq feeling to it without me having to do ANY work!! (Which I love).

Good luck!!
