Too tired to get up and exercise Rss

So i REALLY want to get back into exercise. The idea of going for a walk with my IPOD on and having a bit of me time is really appealing!!!!!
The only problem is the only time I can really do it would be from 6am - 7am before hubby takes off for work, in itself that is fine, nice quiet time of the morning, great way to start the day.

Here is the problem: no matter what I do baby wakes at 3;30/4am for a feed so when the alarm goes off at 6am I am just too flippen tired! If she woke at 2 / 2:30 and feed that would be fine. She is nearly 4 months old, refuses a bottle or dummy and i cant get her to sleep through. Have tried dream feeding at 11 she wakes at 4, so i thought id leave her she wakes at 1, then 4.

What do i do???? I dont want to risk getting up and doing it anyway and being a zombie all day, but maybe it will help me, starting to get VERY frustrated with her!!!! Your thoughts and experiences please!
I started walking during one of DS afternoon naps- would put him in the pram when he was due for a sleep and just went.
It was good because he was asleep in the pram I had my quiet time and my walk.
I'm not a morning person at all, don't really start waking up till about 10 even though I'm up at 6.30 most mornings tongue

Of course this all depends on where you live, I'm lucky its not too hot at about 3pm most days.
I also found for the first few days I was so tired but once my body got used to exercise again I would wake better, sleep better etc.
could u go at night when hubby gets home???? otherwise mayb put bub in the pram and do it that way. he/she will enjoy the outing and u can tune out still with ur ipod in smile

otherwise worst case scenario, force urself to get up. i know it seems impossible but a week after doing it and u will be hooked. not too mention the extra energy u will get from doing the walk will far outweigh that extra hour sleep.
I'm not a morning person either but I find that if I just get up and do it, it's done for the day and I don't have to worry about it, which is what I do if I leave it to the end of the day. And I usually then don't do it because I get tired towards the end of the day and then I feel extremely guilty. sad I got that morning exercise tip from Michelle Bridges LOL! It works really, really well for me. I find that the more I exercise when I'm tired from being up with DD, the more energy I have later in the day and same as Nadz, I also sleep better and wake better. It gets the oxygen flowing and I feel energised for the day too.

Anyway, in terms of being exhausted and trying to exercise, I hear you! I know exactly how you feel. I started walking again when DD was probably 4 weeks or so - i'd just put her in the pram, she's sleep and I'd do my errands all around town. I live in a country town so I use my jobs as an excuse to go walking as it's so much easier than getting DD in and out of the car all the time. It becomes a mission - get DD in the pram and go do my errands (chemist, newsagents, paying bills, picking up stuff I can fit in the pram).

When DD was about 6 months she started waking all the time during the night - she was waking every 2 hours for about 6 months - and I was an absolute ZOMBIE. Exercise went out the window. I was just too exhausted and self-preservation kicked in and I did as little as possible but the days I did do something, even a short walk, I admit that I felt better.

Sorry for the novel. I didn't mean to write that much! smile
I have a toddler as well as my four month old so the whole taking her in the pram thing wont work unfortunately. Thanks for the tip Layla22 maybe i will just go.
I say just force yourself to do it! Once you get yourself into the routine you'll start (hopefully!) feeling great!

I'm currently 7 months pregnant with twins, tired and sore I still force myself to go for a few walks a week and I must say afterwards I feel really good. Still sore, but better!
hi have u tried walking around your backyard when the kids r asleep. walking is walking it dosent matter where. if your toddler is awake they will think its so fun
Hi, this is awhile after you posted your forum, but I hope I can be of some help.
I also was lethargic and I just couldn't get myself motivated to go exercise. Any time I did have free from my children (rare anyway) I wanted it to be relaxing me time, not exercising time.
My solution was to work out WITH my kids. I used a jogging pram. Check out my ad (for an ebook you can buy) in the business promotion area of the forum.
The benefits to everyone are immense. You get your exercise, the kids get outside (always popular), and you get fit and gain energy. Once you have started exercising, you will gain energy. It motivates you to do more. Plus it's easy to do as you can do it with your kids, no need to worry about how you are going to fit it in to your day. As a tip - a great time to do it is when the kids are normally a bit of a handful. The kids are always better behaved when out and about and also you will like putting some of your frustration in to working out. You'll all come home feeling so much better.
Hope this all helps and good luck!

I too find it sooooo much harder with a toddler and a baby!

When DD1 was a baby is was easy to put her in the buggy and go- I use to walk for miles! but since having DD2 I find it so much harder to get out. Ive been going at night after the kids are in bed. Im lucky we have daylight savings where I am- my DH thinks our neighbours must think Im nuts some nights when its 930 and im off for my run but its the only time that works for me! and even then half the time the kids arent settled so I dont get out.

Just make up your mind when you're going to go and go! Exercise will make you feel so much better even when you're drop dead tired!!

Good luck smile
One of the things I did, against all advice I might add but I was almost demented, was feed my 4 month old son some solids with that last feed at night. Whether it was baby rice or mashed potato, or rusk in with the milk. It seemed to give him a depth of sleep that got him over the habit of waking at 3 or 4 am and yelling for me.

Might work for you too.

So i REALLY want to get back into exercise. The idea of going for a walk with my IPOD on and having a bit of me time is really appealing!!!!!

sorry i hit add reply before id written anything lol..its been a loooong morning!

i wouldnt worry about trying to 'Make' bubs sleep through at 4 months old, its quite normal for babies to want to night feed quite alot longer then that, but by the sounds of it the dream feed helps a bit for you, id continue doing that and go to bed straight after that feed so you get solid sleep until 4 then another few hours in the morning.

as for walking, take bub with you. put bub in the pram and go for a brisk walk with your head phones on. time it so you go straight after a feed so bub will be happy then hopefully fall asleep while you walk. its great to get bubba out too.

you can do other exercises with bub too. i like to put bub in the carrier and do squats and lunges, gives you extra weight and all my kids used to crack up when i did it. id also lay on my back with bub on their tummy on my legs and do leg extentions and sit ups and say boo every time i got to the top, they loved it. and another good one is chest presses holding bub across the chest and thighs. put bub in the jolly jumper harness and hold the cross bar in your hands to do some bicep curls.

well theres a few ideas anyway, getting out or exercising with bub is always daunting at first but once you get into it its really refreshing
