I am at the end of my tether... Rss

I have a 14 month old DD who was born more than 3 months premature so is small for her age (just 8kg) and has a few various health problems. BUT recently she has started excessively peeing! Within an hour her nappy is wet all the way through, we have tried all different brands of nappies, and different sizes too. Guaranteed in the morning after a big night time sleep she's wet up to her ears! I feel so sorry for her, but in the same token i'm not waking her up to change her either, night times are bad enough for us.
I am in serious need of some ideas! Please help!
TIA smile

If she's a premmie, with other health issues and is peeing excessively I would probably go and see a doctor just in case.

As per above post, I would seek medical advice - excessive urination may be a number of things that need medical attention... (but it also may not be). If it were me, I would get her checked, just for peace of mind
I agree with PP that maybe you should have her checked out. But the only thing i could think of was maybe finding an absorbent pad (no plastic backing) to add to the disposable nappy, like you would if you used cotton nappies.
Opps I was meant to add, we have a Pead appointment in two weeks time, so i'll definatley be asking! Does anyone know where to get something like an absorbent pad from? Thanks smile
Hi, I never had the issue myself, but other solutions I have heard are:

- using two nappies - punch some holes thru the outer layer of her regular napy, then put a bigger size over the top. Idea is the wee soaks thru to the bigger nappy. Sounds a bit extreme to me, but you never know!

- dress her for the night in clothes that allow easy access to her nappy, and try and change her before you go to bed, without waking her too much. Would work for some kids maybe, but others could be wide awake straight away.

Dont know what else to suggest.

I had a similar problem with my DS about a month ago.

I tried putting a nappy on with a hole cut in the front and a bigger nappy over the top - turns out the wee never actually went through the hole into the second nappy, although the extra tightness helped stop leaks.

Next on my list was to buy a "night booster" which is designed for MCNs - you can buy them online, and stick that in the nappy.

Fortunately I found a brand of nappy that suited DS - Pampers. Although that's mainly because he's super fat and most nappies weren't wide enough for him, so leaked around the sides. They are very absorbent though.

Good luck, I know how frustrating it is! I hope your visit to the paed goes well!

Weenie pads - Disposable inserts for cloth nappies smile They may help by adding some extra absorbancy?
what about adding a cloth or a chux type liner inside the nappy. Or.... those woolie pants that kiddies wear when they are toilet training... just pop them on over the top of her nappy, so if there is a spill it will just be absorbed.
good luck with the pead apoint.
Does she sleep on her belly?? My DD wears a huggies boys nappy at night as we used to get leaks. This solved the problem and I don't think we've had a single leak since!! We also use a boys nappy for her day sleeps.
We used to use pampers, i thought they were great, but nowhere near as great as huggies.
