Making the Transition Rss

Hi all, I'm returning to work one month before my DD's first birthday. She is breastfed at the moment and i am just wondering if it will be ok to breastfeed her in the morning and before bed but give her cows milk in a sippy cup at lunch time when she is 11 months old. Any tips/advice would be appreciated. This is my first child.
Thanks!!
I don't think it would be an issue being so close to the 12mth mark and she would still be getting breastmilk morning/night anyway. I breastfed for 11mths and DS self weaned, he refused formula but would drink that toddler formula as it has a vanilla taste.

I work from home with kids and what my mother's generally did was give them the feeds before and after they came, expressed if they could but slowly introduced cow's milk. Your carer should ask you to introduce her to the cow's milk for at least a week before she starts to make sure there is no allergic reation!! I would do it along the lines of (if you can express enough) 1/3 breast, 1/3 cow's and 1/3 water. The water will just dilute the cow's milk that little bit more so if she does have an allergic reation it wont be as severe. Do this for a couple of days then change the ratio to a bit more cow's and less water but about the same breast (if u can) if not add more water. keep doing this for about a week or so and then by the time a week is up ( a little bit longer if you feel she needs it)and then do 3/4 cow's to 1/4 water. if after another day or so she is coping with the cow's milk you could do full cow's milk. Dont be scared to do the ratio's for longer if you want. Or if her poo's get a little runny or she seems to have a tummy upset it may be from the cow's milk so dilute it down more or take her off it as she may have a mild lactose intolerance. Good luck xx Hope this has helped!!! xx
