Best way to wash MCN Rss

Hi ladies,

Any suggestions or ideas on this one? I have about a dozen MCN (Cherub Tree and Babyland) and am wanting to know the better way to wash them. I am presuming the usual method of 'dump the liner and poos straight into the toilet' and 'remove the wet inserts to be washed' as the majority of it but what about the rest of the nappy?

Do I need to soak it or just pop it straight into the washing machine as usual? I hear not to use any detergents or soaking agents on the nappies as this will wreck them. All your thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks
I have babyland MCN's

I do exactly what you wrote before as to remove the poo's and the wee nappy liners into the toilet but i also just use the wipes to scoop it up i find it much easier. I personally fill a bucket of boiling hot water and leave them in there for a couple hours and then just wash them just by themselves in the washing machine without using any detergents or powder. ONLY because i did that with a few of mine and now they are wrecked and i cant use them anymore sad

goodluck with it!!
There is no need to do any soaking on a regular basis. I just dispose of the poo put the nappies in a nappy bucket.
I put the whole nappy in the washing machine with a small amount of eco-friendly washing powder. I do a long cold wash, with pre-rinse and an extra rinse afterwards. It is important to never wash MCNs with water hotter then 30degrees as it will damage the PUL water proofing.
If you get stains then there is a product called 'Rockin Green' you can soak them in that wont do damage. Or you can get a Plant Based Oxygen Whitener at most Supermarkets.
I don't know if you can get it in Oz but if your in NZ I use these things called soap nuts, they're 100% natural and great for MCN as there's not scent so nappy rash isn't a problem.
I just do a normal wash cycle with the rest of DS stuff, if they're really bad will do 2 wash cycles and will only soak for a few hours if super super dirty.
The brand I've got the inners pop in and out so I take them apart from each other and outer before washing so they get washed well.
I have heard Rockin Green is really good, but haven't tried it yet.
I never soak, it's bad for the elastic!

I just chuck out the "solid stuff", rinse the nappy out if it was a poo and put it straight in the nappy bucket or washing machine. I use a bit less detergent than suggested on the bottle and every now and then I put a capful of tea tree oil in the wash too.

PS you can get soap nuts here in oz- I saw them at a "green fair" a few weeks ago. I don't use them as I have a bit of a thing about the nappies being germ busted in the wash and I don't use hot water on them.

Thankyou thankyou for your replies!

The soap nuts sound excellent and I use cold water for all my washing as it is.

Thanks so much for your advice smile
