Cradle cap Rss

How does everyone get rid of their baby's cradle cap?

My mum told me she used to rub cardboard along her baby's head when it had wet hair, my sister said to mix baking powder and water into a paste and rub it in, my sister-in-law said to rub in olive oil....

Which one do I try first or what have you found worked for you?
I used Moo Goo scalp cream moisturiser on my DD. I Got it from the local health shop.It works great ,natural product - not full of chemicals and not messy and smells nice too!

I have also tried Olive oil and paw paw cream but they are messier as you can well imagine.
I have always since my first put a little bit of olive oil on bubs head, leave it on for the day or few hours whatever you are comfy with. Then when i bath bubs at night time just use one of those soft baby brushes and gently brush the flakes away. It usually takes a coupe of days but none of my four babies have had it for long at all. wink

Hope that helps
id second the moo goo its great stuff not cheap but it works really and good for any dry skin on yourself or bubs
As prevention, I brush bubs head with a soft baby brush daily from birth... even when they don't have hair. It tends to keep it at bay.

Although when it has appeared I've used olive oil, it's a cheap/normal household item that's always on hand. Just rub it into their scalp and leave for a few hours and then GENTLY scrub with a fine tooth comb. You may not get it off in one go. It depends on how bad it is.
I generously coat bubs head with olive oil or Johnsons Baby oil, rub in and leave for a bit (lay bub on a washer or put on an old beanie to avoid stains etc), also left overnight with DD1 when tiny and left a light beanie style hat on to keep her warm. I gently brush with my brush and it just flicks out. Wash with shampoo to remove flakes and oil. Repeat as often as needed.

I honestly do not mean to be rude here.

But, "Baby oil" or mineral oil, is a petrochemical.
No good for bubs!

I have no idea why it is still sold under the name "baby oil"
Thank you , I have tried the olive oil once but perhaps I didn't brush hard enough or need to use a comb instead maybe? I will have a look for that moo-goo, it sounds great.
I have heard the Moo Goo scalp cream is good too but haven't tried it yet. I just used olive oil and massaged it into DD's scalp, then washed normally with baby shampoo, using a soft brush in the lather. I usually did it two nights in a row and it would be a couple of weeks before I had to do it again. Sometimes I would sit and gently lift the flakes off her head with my fingernails but now she's more active she never sits still. Plus her hair is getting longer and I don't notice it as much so forget to do it LOL!! laugh
I just used moisteriser about half hour before bath time, wash it out in the bath and then brush with a soft brush and little bits would come off, doesn't get rid of it straight away though, i wouldn't brush to hard on a soft little head.
the trick is to really make sure they rub their hair dry after a bath, been doing that with my 2 boys now, and no more issues at all anymore
DD had really bad cradle cap when she was about 10 weeks old. I went and brought Aveeno baby, the baby moisture Lotion and gave that a go. It said it is helps heal and protect delicate skin, nothing about cradle cap.
I stopped using bath stuff on her head in the bad, dried it really well after washing, put Aveeno on and used a soft brush to comb her hair (which we do twice a day anyway) and with like 3 days, her head cleared up to the point you didn't even know she had cradle cap before!!

I even use it for her nappy rash now. I put it on when she is a little red or whatever and it clears it right up. We now use the bath stuff too.

I swear by the stuff! Highly recommend it smile
Curash shampoo and conditioner works well. Afer washing his hair I comb it. Once I started using it a week later all gone.
Hi,

I used Egozite just from the chemist it works great!!
I was taught this by my CHN...
Generously put Paw Paw Ointment all over bubs head, leave overnight. Bath bub in the morning and gently rub with a wash cloth.
It worked so well for my baby. The paw paw really loosens & softens the cradle cap so that it came off in the bath really easily.
