Travel system
Hi, I was wanting to get some advise and would love as many opinions/ideas/criticisms as possible. I am pregnant and looking at strollers. I have decided to get a travel system but am struggling too choose which one. The stand out so far is the steelcraft strider 4. Has anyone got any experience with this or others? Would love to get as much advise as possible! Thanks in advance!
We just bought the chicco cortina travel system but our bub isnt here yet so I cant really give too much input. I like the convenience of the clip in capsule and hence not having to disturb bubs - this was the main reason behind us choosing a travel system smile I look forward to others replies on this topic too!
I only had a convertable car seat with my first. She stayed asleep when transfered and was happy with it for her.
When my second was coming I had considered hiring or buying a second hand capsule, then stumbled across a clearance Fisher-Price capsule at Target (paid $115 - very happy with price grin) but the compatible pram was sold out. I ended up Buying a steelcraft Profile stroller to use with it, which I really liked (Capsule is made by Britax who make Safe-n-sound etc so has same fittings). She has never transfered well so it was great, especially for the days when I was in and out of car lots as she wasn't disturbed.
I also ended up with a Phil & Teds Sports pram to use with both kids. When my 3rd arrived this year I purchased the TS13 travel adaptor for it which means bub can stay in the capsule and my toddler can sit underneath in the toddler seat. It has been a great addition and allows for lots of flexability.
I would reccommend the capsule if you are out and about lots - you can sit it inside most trolleys, use as a rocker when out visiting and put it down it you need two hands when paying for shopping, opening doors, helping other child etc. Quicker than using sling or pram for quick trips. Quite heavy and awkward to carry for a long time though. Can be expensive but seem to sell well second hand, and works out ok price wise if used for a couple of kids.
Can also be hired cheaply in most communities (usually older style that cant be used with stroller) or ask around your group of friends for one you can borrow or buy. There are also baby hire places but these are usually quite expensive.
Some travel system strollers can only be used for one child and some have the added benefit of taking a second child when you have another (eg. Phil & Ted/Strider Take 2) - a good option to save money if you have another bub.
Good Luck!
