Hi Maree
Our 3 year old was a premmy born @30 weeks. Since i can remember she always has had trouble getting to sleep an since she got older she `puts off` goin to bed. Several times after we put her to bed she`ll come out of her room saying she needs to go the toilet, or makes up some excise to NOT go to bed. We always put her to sleep with abottle which i guess was like a `security` thing but being 3 Im quite sure its time to kick the habit, but she cried unless we give her one, also in the mornings when she wakes abut 530am-6am we`d give her a bottle and shed go back down but yet again this is another habit which we cant break or else shell cry. I really want her to get away from the whole bottle thing butif it makes her happy and gets her to sleep, is it a bad thing at this age?? Also when shes tired (or upset) shell rock, shell get on the lounge sitting up, and bang against the back of the lounge, most of the time (as we have tiles) the ;lounge ends up half way across the room as shes banging so hard. Ive seena doc who recommended a phycologist but she was of no help. Its getting to a point where the legs on the lounge are abut to fall off if she keeps goin.
Have you any suggestions or any advice of who can help us overcome these issues. The banging is so dispuptive/annoying/damaging (to the furniture) its getting ot of hand, we say to her after trying to settle her, if she needs to do it go to your room, then she becomes angry
I think you could do with some one on one support. I would highly recommend Rhonda Abrahams for in house consultation if you are in Melbourne. You can contact her on 03 95139500.
Cheers, Maree
