I am desperate to get Losec in liquid form

My paediatrician has put my 3 month old son on Losec. I live in Wetherill Park (near Fairfield) in NSW and I am desperate to get Losec in liquid form as my little boy cannot digest it when it has been crushed and mixed with either water or milk. The granules just keep coming right back up. I have read on many email sites that mum`s have used it in liquid form but nobody says where they got it from. Could you please help? I would love to hear back from you ASAP. The Zantac just doesn`t seem to be working and I know from my first born who also had reflux that Losec works a lot better, it`s just that my little one cannot take it in the tablet form.

Answer: Hi,
You can get the Losec in a suspension by a compounding pharmacist (it is important a compounding pharmacist is used as they need extra training and specialised equipment, and Losec is apparently a very unstable compound).

Compounding pharmacies can be found online – I have used one in the past myself and was really happy with their service. It was much easier than going to a pharmacy, and they posted the prescription out to me. You just need to do a search online for compounding chemists or compounding pharmacies in Australia, and contact them with any queries.

The suspension is more expensive than the Losec capsules but some parents are happy to pay the extra. Another option may be to talk to your doctor about using a similar medication to Losec, called Zoton. It is available in a suspension and perhaps would be another option for you.

I hope that information helps.
