hi Glenda,
my seven month old, only ever vomited a few times earlier on. But now when i try feed him anything he gags and throws up. even allowing him to self feed doesn`t help. do you have any advise for me? he`s only really breastfed, optherwise we try all sorts of healthy age appropriate foods.
i`m really unsure of what else to do???
thank you
liz
Whilst it is common for reflux babies to have problems with food there could also be lots of reasons why your son is gagging and vomiting with eating and it is important to seek guidance from your doctor about this.
It may be something simple like the texture or the temperature of the food or it may be a delay in feeding skills, a heightened sensitivity in the mouth, food sensitivity, or something else entirely. I feel it would be best to talk to your doctor about what is going on, and also what you could do to help the issue. They may be able to refer you to other health professionals e.g. speech pathologists who specialise in feeding and swallowing issues, or a dietitian who can help with this issue.
You may also be able to make contact with your community child nurse and or the feeding team at your local hospital, and see if they have any information for you.
I hope this information helps. I’m sorry I can’t offer you more.
