My 6 month old eats very well, but refuses to drink any water. He simply spits it out when he realises what it is. Do you have any tips to get him to drink water?
Yes my second was the same, took him until about 11 months to really get into water. It really is perseverance to be honest, find some nice sipper cups, fill them up each morning and offer him water as often as you can possibly think to.
Babies` kidneys need more water to process food so once you start solids water is usually offered also. So buy a lovely sipper cup and pop some cooled boiled water in it (you may find temperature is an issue so see what baby prefers) and away you both go. Don`t worry if baby doesn`t like the taste of it, keep offering small amounts frequently and he will get the hang of it, also every little drop will help to avoid constipation.
With enough trials I promise he will get used to the taste, don`t be tempted to flavour the water in anyway this will just delay the process. Also don`t force it as it can delay the process even more.
All the best,
Leanne
