I have continued to breastfeed but he has had very runny poos

Hi, i have a 11 week old baby and when he was 2 weeks old i got mastitis very badly and was on antibiotics for 2 weeks. I have continued to breastfeed but ever since then he has had very runny poos, they frequently run out the back of the nappy they are that loose. I have tried cutting out chocolate as people have said it could be that but it makes no difference.
Is there anything you can reccomend to try?

Answer: Hi There,
Well done to you for pushing through, breastfeeding can be such a `baptism of fire`.

This is a bit colourfull, but, exclusively breastfeed babies generally have mustardy yellow and very runny poos, this is in fact the norm. I remember with my first, we traveled early on and his poos become really loose, but in fact it was very normal. Ask most mums and dads, the whole poo up the back thing is soooooo common. Up backs, down the side of legs, through clothes and onto sheets and so on, its sad truth of parenting, one that we forget to mention until it happens.

It can last almost till you start them on solids. Solids really changes their poo.

If you are still unsure though ask your CHN or GP, nothing is too small to check when it comes to a baby.

All the best,
Leanne
