When is it okay to introduce normal cow`s milk (watered down)?

i have a 5 month old little girl and was wondering when it was ok to interduce normal cow`s milk (watered down)

Answer: Hi There,
Cows` milk as a drink isn’t recommended until after 12 months it has too much calcium (which can interfere with their iron) and too little of other nutrients for an infant under 12 months. Stick to baby`s solids (if she is on them yet) and formula until 12 months and water is by far the best fluid for babies, it has no calories so doesn’t fill them up and won`t interfere with their appetite or nutrition.

I have a tip sheet on weaning and cows’ milk, it should be on Huggies soon but in the meantime you can download it from my site at www.cadencehealth.com.au/babyandchild.htm, it’s about half way down the page. It explains how much milk toddlers need in order to reach their daily serving and RDI of calcium. So it is a bit ahead of where you are now but might be good to read in advance.
