Can you please reccommend to me what to keep him away from now

My bub is 4 months old and quite a big baby, within the last few weeks we have introduced him to farex at night (just a measured teaspoon) in with his milk as a recommendation from our local midwife and just some of the heinze pureed baby food from the super market.

He is now wanting more food during the day as well and I am concerned that he`s starting too early.
I have taken some or the vegie recipies off the site, but can you please recomend to me what to keep him away from now eg cheese ect as I`m unsure what is safe for him to have.

Answer: Hi There,
I am not sure what the background is to why your CHN has recommended solids a bit earlier than normal, sometimes it is suggested with reflux for example. So probably best to say continue as you have been recommended, but of course go slowly and carefully. Baby is your best guide, opt for vegies ideally first as they tend to have an innate preference for sweet and salty tastes. Probably by 7 months your bub will be on about 3 meals a day, this may help with a bit of a timeline and quantity. Don`t forget water, babies need water as they start solids to help digest the foods well and avoid constipation.

There are a few foods to stagger in terms of when to start them, probably the best way to explain them is point you to the tip sheets below, they have a list of foods for bubs and at what age, plus foods to avoid and until when. The tip sheets and my book should cover all those questions.

Solids
Which foods when and fridge chart
Tips for getting started
Healthy eating for infants
Food safety

Hope that helps, all the best with the solids, it`s a great time.
