In August 2009, Plunket New Zealand and HUGGIES® Nappies joined forces to renovate and make over Plunket Family Centre in Henderson, West Auckland. We talked to the Plunket Team and agreed on the key areas of the Family Centre that needed to be “made over”. Like many good ideas this one came from one of the HUGGIES® Nappies team as a way of doing more than our usual sponsorship and giving our time to the community where we work.
We were extremely pleased that so many of our HUGGIES® team members volunteered to be involved with the makeover and by their collective ability to paint, decorate, build kitchen cabinets and landscape the garden. It is amazing what hidden talents have surfaced.
Caro Watts, Plunket Area Manager for Waitemata said “Plunket family Centres are a gateway through which families receive support and information so it is important we are able to offer them a safe comfortable place to visit. We want to say a huge thank you to the team from Huggies nappies for the wonderful opportunity to bring our centre up to date and better equipped for families to use.”
HUGGIES® would like to express particular thanks to the team at Mitre 10 Henderson for helping out with a huge list of products and materials needed to complete the job. Thank you to their General Manager Dee Lal. In addition Resene came to the party with the paint materials. A special thanks to the Plunket “husbands” who gave their time and muscle to shift out the furniture before the team commenced the makeover!
And finally we’d like to thank the West Auckland Plunket Family Centre Committee and the Plunket team of volunteers for putting their faith in us to do the job! We hope that mums visiting the Centre will love the new environment as much as we do.
